Roger Gale M.P. Agrees To Be A Patron Of Thanet ADDers

Following a very prompt response to our request for some help, Roger Gale, our local North Thanet M.P. visited us on 7th March 1997.

He gave us some very useful advice and his full support of our efforts to raise awareness to Attention Deficit Disorder. Before our meeting he requested information from Gillian Shephard's department on what exactly they can do to help sufferers and support groups like ours. Their reply has now been received, see News from the DfEE. Roger Gale further asked that we contact him should we require any practical help, over and above lending our group his support.

We were very encouraged by his comments and impressed by his no nonsense, swift action approach. Roger has, since our meeting, been able to put us in touch with high ranking officials in the various authorities and has done a great deal to raise awareness to Attention Deficit Disorder. He has now kindly agreed to be a Patron of our group. Whatever your political affiliation, there is no doubt that this man can help us to open many doors, and has proved as much even in the short time we have known him.

He attended the talk by Thom Hartmann, on the 5th April 1997, and gave a short introduction speech at short notice, at our request. Thom Hartmann, himself, was very impressed with Roger and asked me (Simon Hensby) afterwards, whether we voted for the candidate or the Party in this country. When I remarked that we should really vote for the man or woman representing the constituency, not the Party, he said that he wished he'd known that earlier as he was going to remark during his talk, that this was the first talk in the UK, that to his knowledge an M.P. had attended and that such was Roger's enthusiasm and interest in ADD/ADHD, everyone in the room should "vote for this man".

Our thanks go to Roger Gale M.P. for his encouragement and support.
