A good basic book which discusses and explains what ADD is and how more awareness has brought ADD out as a more common problems over recent years.
This book talks about the possible causes of ADD in simple, easy to read terms. Also the diagnostic procedure, explaining the various criteria, questionnaires and other tests which can be used as part of the assessment process, again in easy to read and understand language.
The authors use their own experiences of working within the field of ADD to discuss the other issues including; drug therapy, behaviour management and parent and family problems and ideas to help and improve stressful situations.
Discussing classroom approaches and alternative treatments which some believe in, the authors discuss these ideas from all angles both positive and negative.
Finishing on the fact that ADD is not only a condition found in children, the authors discuss ADD in Adolescence, both as a child growing up with the diagnosis and the adolescent who is newly diagnosed. The different problems which manifest with age are discussed and ideas given to help, right through to adults.
Easy to read, informative and helpful book for those wishing to learn more about ADD.
