UK Research Project

Research into side effects of methylphenidate

ARE YOU A PARENT OF A CHILD WITH ADHD OR AN ADULT/YOUNG PERSON WITH ADHD?

We are writing to ask for your participation in a research project at the University of Southampton. This project will investigate the presence or absence of cognitive and motivational adverse events following treatment with methylphenidate (MPH; e.g., Ritalin, Concerta, Equasym).

We are particularly interested in how MPH may affect children's and adult's thinking and motivation in the long term.

We would like to interview PARENTS who have with children with ADHD. With your consent, we would also like to interview YOUR CHILD about his or her experiences. We would also like to speak to ADULTS who have ADHD to investigate your experiences of receiving treatment with methylphenidate.

What would be involved?
The interview would take approximately 30 minutes, and the interviewer could conduct the interview over the phone, or will travel to your home, work, school or other agreed location at a mutually agreed time and date. We will reimburse all of your travel expenses if you travel to the University of Southampton to speak to us.
