Comment from Janice Hill, Founder of the charity speaking today (Saturday) after news that the charity's leading consultant into Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Professor Steve Baldwin, had been killed in the Selby rail crash. She said:
We are all devastated at Overload, This will be a great loss to campaigners trying to stop the abusive of psychiatric drugs in child as young as two. Steve believed passionately in our work and was on his way to meet me for an ADHD debate in London, but failed to turn up. I was later informed that he was one of the victims of the Selby rail disaster.
"Steve was planning to move up to Edinburgh and use it as a base, commuting to Teeside University. This makes it even sadder as we were expecting to work together extensively over the coming years researching further this topic.
"His expert guidance and his determination to stop the social control of children, over the last few years has been invaluable. He will be a great loss not only to the Scientific Community, but also to those who fought against the over prescribing of psychiatric drugs."
"Most of all, our heartfelt condolences go out to his family who will, I know, miss him dearly".

Whilst Professor Baldwin's views re medication were in some respects opposite to our own there is no doubt that this man worked tirelessly to help children with mental health problems and this is indeed a tragic loss to all. We at adders.org commend his courage to fight for what he believed in and send our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
