(dedicated to Ruth H who helped me with this issue)
All my life I have been different
so it would seem,
the other kids used to point
and say things that were mean.
"Don't you EVER sit still Vicki?"
"Your writing don't make sense!"
"Why have you stood up just now
instead of sittin' on the bench!"
The teachers didn't understand me
they thought I was just bad,
comments like "be still Vicki!"
made me frustrated and mad!
I lost all sense of worth
felt I had no friends,
I thought I was just immature
with immaturity that never ends!
I was fed up of people saying
"Don't do this!" "don't do that!"
"Bahave Vicki!" "Sit still!"
"Vicki get out of the class!"
I got so mad and angry
and felt it would never end,
but one day at drama
in came a new friend.
She is a little older than me (by ten years!)
she directed our group,
she explained to me how difference are exeptable
and that is the truth!
She said how people had told me
that they are undesirable and bad,
and that I had began to believe their words
and it had made me feel sad.
She expressed that she too had hyper moments,
when she is giggly and fun like me,
but nobody ever saw it as bad for Ruth,
because she hasn't got ADHD.
But Ruth explained that it shouldn't be bad,
it should be seen as good,
for that is who I am
and therefore that is good!
